 Junior Cricket Coaching Season 2010

Dear Parent,

Ross County Cricket Club are encouraging children to develop their cricket skills by providing coached sessions at the Castle Leod Club at Strathpeffer. If your child would like to play Cricket on a Wednesday evening from 6.00-7.30pm they are most welcome to come along. The Club will provide all necessary kit and coaches; the children just need appropriate clothing and footwear. Parents wishing to stay and help are always welcome. The cost is £2 per child per session.

For children under 10 we use KWIK Cricket equipment that is made of plastic. This encourages the development of the necessary skills whilst enabling a safe environment. We can accommodate boys and girls. Depending on the individual we try and move the older children on from the KWIK Cricket equipment to the youth version of the real game called Intercricket. This means we are using a rubber ball. Children showing the confidence and ability at this level are then encouraged to go to adult/junior team practices instead, and to play regularly in the Under 13 and Under 15 Leagues at weekends.

We always endeavour to ensure that your child is safe and that no one is put at risk, however, cricket like other sports does have an element of risk and it is worth considering insuring your child for all sporting activities. Many companies now offer this facility at very inexpensive premium rates. This Club does not carry cover for its members but most of us have personal cover. Our coaches are members of ECBCA and have Disclosure Scotland certificates.

Whilst the children are here we expect them to be well behaved and to do as we ask, this is for their own and the safety of others. Children unable to behave will be asked to leave and their fee will not be refunded.

Any parents interested in playing the game should try and come along on a Tuesday evening to adult practice that runs from 6.30-dusk each week during the season. A senior club official will be only too pleased to help them and introduce them to the set up.

If on a Wednesday the weather is, or looks like it will be, poor then you can phone me for advice whether the practice is on, my number is 07904314491 or 07845172019.

Please complete the following tear off slip and return it to the Club when your child attends his/her next practice.
